CBD and the effect on the body

CBD and the effect on the body

Recently, cannabidiol oil has become very popular, especially on the Internet. Cannabidiol (also known as "CBD") is a substance extracted from the cannabis or marijuana plant and is the antagonist of the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) it also contains.

More and more people want to try it to see if their complaints such as pain, insomnia or depressive moods can be alleviated with cannabidiol.

Perhaps you are one of those people who would also like to make first experiments with this ingredient from the cannabis plant Cannabis sativa.

Or perhaps you have already experienced that these products can help with your complaints.

In contrast to THC, there is no intoxicating or psychoactive effect when using CBD. On the contrary, because cannabidiol is responsible, among other things, for breaking down THC and thus allowing the experienced "intoxication" to subside.

However, it has long been known that legal cannabidiol can do more than that, and that in a very diverse field.

What's in cannabidiol oil?

CBD is one of many active substance extracts that can be obtained from hemp. These hemp species are poor in the intoxicating active ingredient THC, less than 0.2 percent THC may be contained. In the over-the-counter hemp end product, no more than 0.005 percent THC is legal in Germany.

CBD oil contains minerals, proteins, vitamins, fibre and polyunsaturated fatty acids. In addition, we find other important cannabinoids in CBD oil which cannot be produced by the body independently.

How is it made?

Various extraction methods enable the extraction of active substance extracts from hemp. The gentle CO2 extraction is often used.

The hemp is treated with CO2 under very specific conditions, so that the active ingredient is released from the plant as crystalline powder at the end. The crystals dissolve particularly well in oil. That is why manufacturers prefer to incorporate them in hemp oil.

In addition to the CO2 method, extraction with alcohol (very expensive), dry sieving (low purity) or water filtration (very costly) can also be used. In the finished products, the dosage of cannabidiol varies. The oils are usually offered with 5 percent or 10 percent of the active ingredient.

Science has only just begun to investigate the potential effects of these special hemp products. Among other things, the first positive effects have already been described for sleep disorders, nicotine withdrawal, for inflammatory processes in the context of rheumatism and multiple sclerosis, for epilepsy, anxiety disorders and for alleviating side effects in cancer therapy.

Cannabinoids and their alleged activity

  • Cannabichromas (CBC) is tested for an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect and for cell renewal.
  • CBD is studied in chronic pain, cramps, migraine attacks, arthritis and inflammation of all kinds, epilepsy and to kill malignant tumor cells
  • Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDa) with antiemetic effect is being studied for nausea, breast cancer and other cancers.
  • Cannabigerol (CBG) is studied for its antibacterial effect, which is said to be even stronger than that of common antibiotics.
  • Cannabinol (CBN) with a mild, not directly noticeable, psychoactive effect for the relief of acute anxiety and panic states.

Due to the lack of official studies in the field of CBD effects on the body, there are still no permissible therapeutic statements for this active substance. CBD is believed to act most effectively in the form of extracted oil.

CBD impact and possible applications - what can you use CBD for?

Personal testimonials, small studies and research, and other reports talk about the unique properties of CBD and how it can help with various diseases. A means which is still given far too little attention.

Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil and its effects

Cannabidiol oil for restlessness and insomnia

Stress and everyday problems make us find constantly insufficient sleep. It is all the more important that our body starts the next day rested and relaxed. Ultimately, poor sleep has an effect on our ability to perform, which decreases continuously and can lead to chronic fatigue or depression.

The regular use of various sleeping pills could be quite dangerous, because soon a kind of dependency can arise and waking up can be very difficult.

Cannabidiol, on the other hand, is completely free of all the side effects of sleeping pills. The active ingredient lets the body rather relax and rest.

Treat stress, burnout, anxiety and panic with cannabidiol

Research is also being carried out into mental illnesses in combination with cannabidiol. Can the fabric really effectively treat anxiety and panic attacks?

Up to now, high-percentage CBD oil has been used, for example, for acute anxiety or panic attacks. Furthermore, it would allow stress to be better processed, and provide inner peace and balance. Even in cases of "normal" nervousness, such as that which occurs before a flight or examination, CBD could have a calming and relaxing effect, without the consumer no longer being in control of his senses.

The reason for this effect can be explained scientifically:
Our organism has its own endocannabinoid system and corresponding receptors. CBD acts with these receptors and thus prevents the release of, for example, adrenaline or stress hormones.

Further down in the article we will go into this in more detail.

Diabetes - treating one of the most common widespread diseases with CBD

Diabetes, the well-known diabetes disease, is one of the most common common diseases in the western world and yet there are hardly any effective medications to prevent or treat it.

We differentiate between type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the clinical pictures differ, among other things, in the subsequent therapy.

Type 1 diabetes patients have a constant lack of insulin in the body, which is why doctors recommend insulin therapy. Whereas type 2 diabetes patients can usually manage without strong medication or the addition of insulin with the right diet and exercise.

The extent to which CBD could be used against diabetes is still being investigated.

Alleviating multiple sclerosis (MS) and Crohn's disease with CBD

MS is an autoimmune disease. The chronic inflammatory, neurological clinical picture can develop many different symptoms.

According to current knowledge, the so-called myelin sheaths are attacked by the body's own immune system. The myelin sheaths form an electrically insulating layer around the nerve fibres.

Transmissions in the nervous system and thus the communication between the individual areas are transmitted by electrical impulses.

If the nerve fibres lack the protective layer of the myelin sheath, the electrical stimuli cause inflammation of the nerve areas. As a result, false transmissions of impulses and intermittent functional restrictions of individual parts of the body occur.

The entire central nervous system can be affected by MS. Visual disturbances, signs of paralysis, incontinence, abnormal sensations, neuralgia, difficulty swallowing, cramps, fatigue and pain are some of the possible symptoms. The course of the disease is very individual and the causes have not yet been conclusively researched. At present, the disease is incurable and essentially only treatable symptomatically.

In fact, there are a few patients who have been able to alleviate their symptoms by the atypical "smoking" of cannabis. This is due, among other things, to the THC in the plant. Since medical hemp is not yet perceived by many doctors as a possible therapy, many patients can only treat themselves illegally.

CBD could, however, achieve almost the same effect, making the symptoms significantly easier.

Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, could also be treated by the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD. In this area, there are some testimonials from our readers that give cause for hope. However, officially recognized studies are still pending.

What are the health benefits of CBD oil?

Can it weaken asthma and allergies?

Many allergies are activated due to a weakened immune system and asthma is one of them.

In this case, CBD oil not only has an anti-inflammatory effect, but also strengthens the immune system. Asthmatic seizures could be mitigated by the use of CBD oil and are likely to occur less frequently.

The organism is then again able to activate the body's own defences and reduce the relapses itself.

Does it work against nausea and vomiting?

Probably you yourself have been in a bad way before and you were allowed to fight against nausea and vomiting.

Especially women in pregnancy or people with various illnesses have to do with both. CBD is capable of suppressing nausea and alleviating nausea.

The effect of CBD is being studied intensively, especially in chemotherapy patients and cancer patients. Positive results have already been achieved with independent therapies. The strong appetite-stimulating effect of the active ingredient helped the weakened patients to eat enough food again and to keep it in the digestive tract.

Cannabidiol and cancer - is there finally a cure for cancer?

The research deals extensively with the topic of cancer and the effects of CBD on cancer cells. In fact, results of smaller clinical studies describing the positive activities of CBD on cancer cells have already been published.

Among other things, cannabidiol should be able to reduce the viability of individual tumour cells in the brain. Based on this assumption, intensive further research is being carried out in this field.

It is also believed that CBD can also be used in lung cancer. Although this very aggressive form of cancer is resistant to chemotherapy, the active substance could have an effect on lung cancer cells.

In breast cancer, smaller studies suggest that the growth and spread of cancer cells may be inhibited.

Should these assumptions be confirmed by official studies, this would be a milestone for patients.

Further possible fields of application of the CBD:

  • hepatitis
  • nerve diseases
  • rheumatism
  • Sepsis (blood poisoning)
  • Overweight and obesity
  • Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease

Do CBD drops have side effects?

Of course, as a consumer you should be aware that natural healing products such as cannabidiol oil have a different effect on everyone.

In general, we cannot completely rule out the possibility that side effects may occur if used too frequently or for other different reasons. Nevertheless, there are hardly any known significant side effects from CBD.

Nevertheless, doctors advise pregnant women to refrain from using it, even though there are reports to the contrary on the Internet that its use was unproblematic here as well.

Unfortunately, there are no long-term clinical studies yet on CBD therapies, so we cannot make a reliable statement at this point. So far it has been found that it has no toxic effects or negative effects on the organism.

How can the effect of CBD on our body be explained?

It sounds almost unbelievable how broad the spectrum of CBD effects could be. CBD seems to work in exactly a different way than its better known "brother" tetrahydrocannabinol.

How can this be explained?

If you have already studied cannabidiol more intensively, you might know that the human organism has an endocannabinoid system, ECS for short, and various receptors.

 How does cannabidiol affect humans?

This means that our body releases substances that are similar to the cannabinoids from the hemp plant. These are messenger substances that interact with certain receptor sites in our body. When they dock to such a receptor site, a certain reaction occurs in our nervous system.

Among other things, it is responsible for how much we feel pain, how well our immune system works or how deeply and well we sleep.

If this endocannabinoid system is now activated by cannabidiol - for example through therapy with oil - a pain-relieving effect is shown, sleep improves and the immune system acts naturally again.

One possible explanation would be that the so-called CB2 receptors in the body interact with the CBD.

These are responsible for pain and inflammatory reactions or processes in the immune system.

CBD is also intended to prevent the organism from degrading anandamides, substances that are responsible for the regulation of pain.

While THC intoxicates due to its binding properties to cannabinoid receptors, CBD in the body reacts in the opposite way.

How fast does CBD work?

Whether you're an experienced user or a beginner, you're probably interested in how quickly you can expect an effect. This question cannot be answered in one sentence.

The time period in which these processes are influenced depends on many different circumstances. It is also important to note that the mode of action of cannabinoids in the human organism has not yet been conclusively researched scientifically.

So far, it seems that the onset of effect occurs for each person in an individual period.

The dosage as well as the proportion of CBD in the respective oil is also important here. Some users report effects within a few hours.

It is also possible that cannabidiol will not take effect for weeks or months. It is also not yet clear whether regular use is important for some symptoms until effects occur.

In summary, according to the current state of knowledge, 5 different aspects are responsible for how quickly cannabidiols can act:

  1. Quality of the oil
  2. Dosage form
  3. Dosage
  4. Percentage of cannabidiols in the oils
  5. Messenger substance situation in the respective body of the user

Until scientific studies provide further reliable findings here, you are dependent on your own experience with CBD. Many users report that it is worth testing with different dosage forms and dosages.

Treat inflammation and pain effectively and without side effects

CBD oil is still not recommended in orthodox medicine and there are no official long-term clinical studies on humans. However, the results of smaller tests to date suggest that CBD has positive effects.

For example, a 2017 rodent study found that CBD could relieve joint pain and joint inflammation, which occur in arthritis. In addition to pain relief and relief from inflammation, protective processes for the nerves have probably also been discovered. This would be considered in the longer term, nerve damage and neuropathic pain prevented.

Conclusion on the effect of CBD

The use of CBD oil (or other CBD-containing products) could have just described effects on the organism. There are still no clinically confirmed studies on humans for various reasons, but the numerous studies and the many testimonials give cause for hope.

It is therefore up to each individual whether and to what extent he or she comes into contact with CBD.

CBD could have a positive effect on our psyche, relieve pain and various symptoms of disease and strengthen the immune system. Allergies and diabetes could probably also be prevented and improved by therapy.

It remains to be seen whether cannabidiol will be contained in medically approved products in the future. Until then, CBD products remain a private investment in one's own health.
